About Pryor Engagement
I’m Matt Pryor, a senior marketer and designer with over 10 years’ experience helping organisations communicate clearly, grow sustainably, and show up with confidence and integrity. I whakapapa to Ngāti Awa and Ngāti Rangitihi, and my approach to mahi is grounded in relationships, trust, and a strong sense of responsibility to the people and communities my work serves.
My background spans digital marketing, brand, design, and communications, working across public sector, corporate, kaupapa Māori, and community-led organisations. I’ve led national campaigns, built and optimised digital platforms, and navigated complex stakeholder environments, delivering practical, hands-on marketing for everything from large, regulated brands to small, whānau-owned businesses.
What sets my work apart is my ability to move seamlessly from whakaaro to action. I don’t just advise on what should be done, I design it, build it, launch it, and continually refine it. Websites, digital campaigns, CRM systems, content, design, paid media, and reporting all sit comfortably within my skill set, allowing clients to work with one experienced partner rather than managing multiple suppliers.
Over my career, I’ve held senior marketing and digital roles with organisations including Safekids Aotearoa, Whāriki Māori Business Network, IAG New Zealand, Fonterra, and Covington Group. This experience has given me deep insight into behaviour change, public safety campaigns, brand stewardship, and digital performance marketing, as well as the discipline required to operate within highly regulated environments.
I’m also a trained graphic designer, which means visual communication is never an afterthought. Design, usability, and brand consistency are built into everything I deliver, whether that’s a website, campaign, social content, or print collateral.Today, I work independently from Martinborough in the Wairarapa, supporting organisations that value clear thinking, practical delivery, and work done well. I partner with clients who want marketing that genuinely works, not just looks good, and who appreciate experience, sound judgement, and a hands-on, no-surprises approach.
